Cookie Policy

This page explains how Brilliant Digital® uses cookies and similar technologies on brilliant.digital. The short version: we use very few cookies, and we've made deliberate choices to keep your data private.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves to your browser when you visit. They're used for a range of purposes - from keeping you logged in, to remembering your preferences, to tracking your activity across the web. Not all cookies are equal, and not all are intrusive.

What we use

Here is a complete list of the cookies and browser technologies used on this site:

Name / Source Type Purpose Expiry
Cloudflare Turnstile (cf_clearance) Strictly necessary Bot protection on the contact form. Verifies that form submissions come from real people, not automated spam bots. Session
Plausible Analytics Analytics - cookieless We use Plausible, a privacy-first analytics tool self-hosted at analytics.brilliant.digital. It counts page visits and referral sources without setting any cookies or collecting personal data. Individual visitors are never tracked or identified. No cookie set
Trust Index (review widget) Functional - no cookies Displays verified client reviews. Uses sessionStorage only (not cookies) to cache a CDN URL and remember if you've dismissed the widget. This data lives in your browser tab and is gone the moment you close it. Tab close (sessionStorage)
Google Maps Optional (third-party) Location pages include an embedded map. The map only loads if you explicitly click "Load Google Maps" - until then, nothing from Google is requested and no cookies are set. Once loaded, Google may set their own cookies in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. Varies (Google)
Sanity CMS (cdn.sanity.io) Infrastructure Images and media on this site are served from Sanity's CDN. No cookies are set on your browser. No cookie set
Cloudflare Pages (hosting) Infrastructure This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Standard Pages deployments do not set cookies. No cookie set

Google Maps and your consent

We use a click-to-load pattern for Google Maps so that no third-party cookies are set without your action. If you choose not to click "Load Google Maps," the page continues to work normally - the map simply isn't shown. If you do load the map and want to understand how Google uses the data, see Google's cookie policy.

Managing cookies

Because we set so few cookies, there is no cookie banner or preference centre on this site. The one cookie we do set (Cloudflare Turnstile) is strictly necessary for the contact form to function securely - it cannot be disabled without breaking that feature.

You can always manage, block, or delete cookies through your browser settings:

For independent guidance on cookies and your rights, visit the ICO's cookie guidance.

Changes to this policy

If we ever add new technologies that set cookies, we'll update this page before doing so. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect any changes.
